Weekly Report Outline

Here is the chart we came up with today at our meeting.  Stay tuned for a summary from Brenna!

Also, I just thought of something–would you girls want to add a column for misc comments/concerns as a sort of intra-group assessment tool?  It’ll be a more qualitative way to assess ourselves as we go throughout the semester; we could assess each other as individuals or even just assess our dynamic as a group.  Comment what you think!

Here is how to post your Google Docs spreadsheet into the blog–what do we think of the format?  I know it’s not perfect but for now we’ll leave it there:

OK, good, things are specific. Will you just make check marks for accomplishment in the spreadsheet, or have comments.? Who determines whether comments are “insightful?” When you say “one person” (last column), will that person be named each week, is the first one who does it? Other than those minor things, looks good.

  2. @Anne, I like the idea of including a miscellaneous column for qualitative assessment. That also might help us to practice giving good feedback to one another. I enjoy the format of the Weekly Report. Thank you for posting the how to instructions. Very helpful, especially for tech-challenged people like me!!

@tom, as far as the “one person” in the last column, I think someone will volunteer to do it every week–doesn’t matter who. Maybe we should do a rotation to make sure it’s not always the same person?? By “insightful”, I think we meant a comment that had substance to it and said more than “that’s really interesting”. We did not determine a person to decide that. I personally feel like we know the difference between a fluffy comment and one that is helpful. Do you think it’s important for us to monitor that? As far as check marks or comments, I think we could do a combo. Maybe do check marks, but then include comments as well (Yeah, EduChicas?).

  3. Yeah! (to everything you just said)

If quality is important, SIMS (and who would say it isn’t), then yes, it is important to monitor. As long as you all agree on what these terms mean (and you are suggesting that you all do), then it’s not a problem providing people are honest, especially with themselves.

  5. Quality is definitely important. That might be something to bring up at our next meeting and maybe we as a group can set some guidelines (in)formally about what we mean by insightful so that we’re all clear in standards (though I think we might be already). It’s an important thing to think about. A lot goes into this!
